Nine bloody years and no sunshine

Our little town has an amazing community, always something going on. Every Christmas there's a big light switching on with a parade, and every August there's a 3-day festival. It used to be on the local playing fields but recently it's only been maintained by the pubs and sports clubs, although there's always a parade and a outdoor stage with loads of local groups singing / dancing etc.

I jest not when I say that it's absolutely pissed it down, without fail, for the whole festival for the past 10+ years (I've only lived here 9 year). Today is no exception.

It's why it's moved from being a 'proper' festival with a field to one entirely sustained by the goodwill of local businesses.

I'm just pissed off I suppose. I've just spent 4 hours in the rain, it really put a dampener on the whole day. We had fun, but how much more fun would we have had if the sun had just deigned to put in an appearance? And now I think I'm getting trenchfoot....

Rant over. I'll start on the Gin now I'm home and dry again.

We had a local village fair type thing with a funfair, stalls, displays, market etc every year at May Bank Holiday where we live, until the year where it rained solidly for the whole day,at which point the organisers decided they were done.
It's a shame,I admire your community for keeping going - you'd think August would be reasonable safe for avoiding rain really.
Flippin' ** British weather...

Sods law is that, even in a dry summer like this year, the weather will be shit if you organise any outdoor event.

Despite being hot and sunny for weeks, it rained on days of friends house warming BBQ, cousins 40th birthday garden party and the rare in week day off DP and I had to go for walk and pub lunch in beer garden.
