Kids who don't get junk food at home

My dad (10) had a friend for a sleepover last night.
Friend came with pack of cookies, large bag of Bombay mix and a multipack of crisps to share.
I did typical junk food tea I always do when friends are over, pizza, garlic bread, chips, chocolate cake (I normally manage to make better dinners!). Friend did not stop eating for first three hours here, all his cookies, crisps, huge bowl Bombay mix, his tea, half a punnet grapes. In the end I had to tell him to stop because I was worried he would throw up. Sure enough he was up in night feeling sick. Have returned him and his mum says he's not used to such food so goes crazy for it. Mine have junk and healthy stuff available all the time so aren't excited by junk.
Just wondering if this is norm and if so what I should do next time?
