What foods could we grow this time of year?

We bought a little feature for our front garden and want to let the kids try and grow some food in the hope they will try more things.
Any advice on what is likely to be successful this time of year?

They may be time for lettuce or radishes to succeed. You can plant broad beans and garlic in autumn to overwinter.

Radishes and herbs.

Kohl Rabi, Pak Choi, winter lettuces will be able to be eaten this year. Kids don't often like radishes so unless yours do, they are not really worth it.

Personally, I'd buy a decent sized packet of cress seeds, get them to write their names in the top of the soil, and sprinkle the seeds in the lines of the letters, sprinkle ine soil or compost over the top, water in gently to not displace the seeds [or do it before some rain] then wait and see their name appear.
Then I'd get some strawberry plants, plant them around the edges for next year. And use the cress once it grows in their food.

I planted kale 4 weeks ago and pak choi and khol rabi 2 weeks ago.

Thanks ladies. They won't eat radishes - I could use Pak choi and garlic but they won't eat lettuce. Kale may work too.
Ill see what I can find. Thank you!
