I suddenly want....

A ham salad butty. On warburtons whole meal bread. With a good layer of flora butter, a cpl of slices of ham (honey roasted pkt) with some nice baby gem lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, a bit of onion and some mayo. With a side of ready salted or salt and vinegar walkers and a really cold glass of orange cordial.

I had a late lunch today and not been hungry since but now I'm suddenly starving and can't stop thinking about it lol.

Just thought I'd share the randomness of an insomniac mum who's coming down with something and struggling more than ever to sleep xxx

Is there anything in your fridge/kitchen that would approximate vaguely to this and take the edge off your craving?

If you're coming down with something, you ought to eat if you're hungry, as you might be off your food tomorrow; plus it makes insomnia worse if you are hungry.

@ScreamingValenta I've got all the salad just no ham and only white bread lol.
Tbh I don't think I'm actually hungry I just think it's because I have time to think.
If I do feel really hungry I'll go make some toast with jam on (one of my most favourite comfort foods) but I'm going to snuggle down and see if I do eventually fall asleep.

Is there anything you ever randomly crave and find strange?x

The strangest craving I have is for cold soup - preferably chicken or mushroom, just eaten out of the tin. Toast with honey is a less weird one.

If I can't sleep, I try to relax by telling myself that the physical rest of lying in bed will do me some good, and it doesn't matter if I don't drop off.

Hope you manage to doze off soon!

@ScreamingValenta I always do that,
Like yeah reading is just as important but I still get up in the morning like a walking mumbie. I'm hoping for a very chilled day tomorrow fingers crossed. Hope you sleep soon xx

I have suffered from insomnia for about 20 years and find myself having snacks through the night. Went to bed tonight at 12.30am. It's now nearly 3 and I'm in the garage having a cigarette, on MN and thinking of coco pops and ice cold milk. Yep, that's what I'll have

Eminybob · 18/08/2018 03:25

I’m a long time insomniac too, and since being pregnant I always find myself ravenous in the middle of the night. I just got up before and had 3 crumpets with a shit ton of butter and a scrape of marmite.
It was amazing. Hopefully the carbs will lull me back off to sleep soon enough.

I am now also craving your sandwich.
