I have not and have no intention of buying DD anything new for school in September,

Is there some unwritten rule I have missed that says I must buy new shoes & clothes?

Her feet are still the same size that they were 3 weeks ago.

Well, I am hoping she doesnt look like a scruff compared to the others on her first day back, but I am a tight wad obviously Shock

I've not bought shoes either but I have bought uniform. The shops are stocked full of it at the moment but if you are looking during non 'back to school' season there's usually just a small uniform rail without all the sizes.

Maybe I should buy a bigger cardigan now then. Im sure Matalan & Tesco will have polo shirts all year.

Argos did have the Tu school stuff, but its now gone from the Argos website. Just purple cardigans left!

My dc always grow over the summer holidays, they are like sunflowers! Both children’s shoes are usually too small by the end of term and in no fit state - holes in sole, holes in toe, loose stitching. This year dd was granted permission from school to finish the year in non-uniform shoes, as her school shoes were just too small and I knew she round continue to grow. I bought both dc new trainers (with growing room) in April for cricket - now both too small.

As for other bits of uniform - again, both dc have grown out if their trousers, did so weeks ago but spent the summer term in shorts. I don’t replace trousers every year, but this year both dc have grown out of them, despite the deep hems I sewed last August bank hol.

School shirts are usually stained by pen, sun cream, baked beans and random mystery stains by the end of the academic year, but I replace those which are too badly stained or too small.

Largely I replace uniform because the dc have gripes out if it! I’ll replace it mid year too if needed too obviously, but summer, sports, fresh air, etc, etc always seems to make my dc grown out 2 inches and 2 shoe sizes in the summer.

My 2 have had their shoes for a year and they are falling apart which is why they'll get new ones. My eldest won't get any other new uniform as she fits it but my youngest needs a couple of bits! We buy as and when.
