Tonight and tomorrow they play their final gigs, after 45 years. Part of Scotland's rich musical heritage, and I am glad I got to see them live on two occasions. Gratitude to the person who introduced them to me over 20 years ago.

Love them. Saw them live at Hogmanay in Edinburgh years ago - we stood for ages waiting with a great view.

We had "Every River" at wedding 😍 Saw them twice in Inverness and Donnie's last concert in Stirling if I remember correctly.

All together now "Alllllllbaaaa"

Yogafailure · 17/08/2018 21:23

At *our wedding 25 years ago.

PetraDelphiki · 17/08/2018 21:24

We are going tomorrow...

confusednorthner · 17/08/2018 21:30

Gutted we can't be there tomorrow, followed them since Edinburgh castle as a teenager and nearly 30 years on I'd have loved to see their final gig but now live down in the south and just couldn't make a trip home work.
I've taken Dd 12 on several occasions to see them too and she's thoroughly enjoyed them, the band were brilliant chatting to her at stage door once and I've a lovely picture of Bruce holding her up amongst them all.

confusednorthner · 17/08/2018 21:31

Capercaillie was that Hogmanay at Princess St Gardens? We went to that and it was absolutely freezing, ends of my hair froze!!

WeeFreeWhiskyGalore · 17/08/2018 21:32

There's basically no one left on this island the weekend!

StoorieHoose · 17/08/2018 21:33

Sitting in my living room with the telly on and thought it was a car outside blaring music but it’s runrig! Looking forward to the fireworks tomorrow night

Pinkkahori · 17/08/2018 21:33

When I was a teenager many years ago I had a Scottish pen pal who loved Runrig. I'm Irish and hadn't heard of them but she sent me and album and I really liked it.
This thread has made me think of her.

capercaillie · 17/08/2018 21:34

confusednorthner - yes it was that one! I’d forgotten the cold but remember walking back to my friends flat along the bottom of Arthur’s seat!

PaddysMarket · 17/08/2018 21:35

Stoorie, what time is the fireworks tomorrow night? I'll need to make sure my dog isn't out.

confusednorthner · 17/08/2018 21:39

I'd forgotten the cold too till you said Hogmanay! Funny what sticks in your mind.

pointythings · 17/08/2018 21:40

My cousin had one of their songs at her wedding, loved it!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 17/08/2018 21:42

First saw them in the mid 80s at Wembley supporting Chris de Burgh (pre Lady in Red I hasten to add). Excellent live.

StoorieHoose · 17/08/2018 21:43

PaddysMarket I think it’s from 11pm. My Ddog who barks at a car door three streets away is surprisingly calm at fireworks but my previous dog was petrified

shakeyourcaboose · 17/08/2018 21:45

Love ending a night with Bonnie Banks and the circle dance!

StoorieHoose · 17/08/2018 21:48

Just looked on council website and fireworks for 7 minutes just before they finish at 11pm on Saturday

PaddysMarket · 17/08/2018 21:52

Ah 11 o'clock, thats fine.

kaytee87 · 17/08/2018 22:47

I remember writing runrig lyrics on our tshirts with fabric pens in the early noughties, thinking we were oh so cool Grin
