What can I do with a giant marrow? ( apart from clubbing people round the head, which wouldn't help because it is almost too heavy to lift)

I went on holiday for a week came back to find small marrow had gown to be almost too big to lift.
I love marrow.
Has anyone got any good recipes for a giant marrow?

First, cut your marrow into bite-size pieces...

Soup. Chop it up, sauté with onions, add stock, simmer, blend.

Watching with interest - I have been given a very large marrow - it is not something I normally eat. I am thinking of doing this

Shred and freeze for chocolate chip zucchini muffins...or soup/stews etc...but zucchini and chocolate is heavenly.

Ooh try the BBC recipe for Spanish stuffed marrow, I've made it before and it was easy and delicious. I think it included chorizo and parmesan.

the spanish stuffed marrow does look lovely- love stuffed veg. However, my marrow would not fit my oven like that.
Honestly it's massive- it was like a large courgette only the week before.
Soup is possible- will have to see if I've still got that huge pan in the back of the cupboard- might need several huge pans though
It is 55 cm long and 55cm circumference at it's biggest point.

Cut into thick rings, scoop out seeds. Fill with a savoury mince that has some chorizo or bacon cooked into it. Cover with foil and bake 180 for half an hour. If you want, bung some cheese over and remove the foil for the last 10 minutes

Would it (or some of it, maybe?!) turn into nice chutney d’you think?

We had this recently when MIL gave me a giant marrow. Very simple but tasty.

Marrow and ginger jam.

Another vote for cutting into thick rings then stuffing, I like a rice and tomato style stuffing.

Don’t laugh at me now, but in my childhood we used to have lots of marrows and my enterprising gran used to make sweet crumbles and pies with it. She’d basically use marrow in place of apple to make desserts. Add sugar, blackberries or raspberries and honestly it makes great puds!

Also good in a curry.

Blimey that does sound like a whopper! In that case my only other suggestion, is to enter it into your local 'biggest marrow' competition 😂

Glitteryfrog · 17/08/2018 18:26

I'm sure I've had marrow and blue cheese soup at some stage. Yum.

underneaththeash · 17/08/2018 19:08

Enter it in a local fruit and veg show?
