H and I have split and have agreed assets
amicably
We are not using solicitor. I want to transfer ownership of our house by TR1 form but it seems you still need a solicitor to verify ID on the ID1 firm
Has anyone done this and how much did it cost? Is it a simple/quick appointment
TIA

My MIL died last year and my DH inherited a share of the house, therefore transferring (partial) ownership to him. There have been loads of forms to sign, one being a form which needed a solicitor to verify his ID (might have been a TR1 form).

He made an appointment with a local solicitor, telling them what it was for. All that happened was he had to take his ID - driving licence and birth certificate (passport would have worked too) - along, signatures were done and he paid £10. Only took a couple of minutes.

I would suggest you contact your/a local solicitor if you don't have one of your own, explain what you need over the phone and they will tell you what you need to do and how much they charge.

(Thankfully all other forms have only needed witnessing so haven't needed solicitors, DCs head teacher and people at church were able to do everything else!)

Thanks. That's very useful

Alternatively you can make an appointment to have your ID verified at a Land Registry customer information centre. There is no fee for this service.

Is there a mortgage on the property?

No mortgage
The appointment option is no good. We are miles away from the nearest center
