Has anyone had any side effects. I think we may have worms so will take the medicine anyway, but just want to get an idea of what I'm in for!!

Physically the shits.
Mentally the ick factor of worms dying inside you.

ShowOfHands · 17/08/2018 12:48

Nope. No side effects.

Remember to repeat the treatment in a month.

gnarlington · 17/08/2018 13:06

Thanks all, and how long till the side effects came, of you had them?
And yes, the fact that they are dying inside me is bloody gross ConfusedEnvynot envy Grin

Nope.

Had diarrhea from the worms themselves though!

Furrycushion · 17/08/2018 13:12

Repeat after 2 weeks, not a month. No side effects here. I might be wrong but I think it paralyses the worms instead of killing them, if that helps!

gnarlington · 17/08/2018 13:17

Yes my IBS has really kicked off since having the worms!!

Me and ds are going to take Ovex today. I don't have any symptoms of threadworms but just in case. Is it likely to affect me in terms of side effects much as whenever I get thrush I would take the tablet which sounds similar. I hope I don't get those side effects as I would feel rotten. Which is why I have started taking acidopholus to not fall prey to the symptoms of thrush so much. Are they related does anybody know as its name is fluconazole which sounds similar to me.

Ds had been trying homoeopathy but it did not seem to eliminate them very well so I went to the pharmacy and the woman at the counter specified I must take the medicine also even though I have no symptoms of worms at all. She said even if I only have one worm in my system I could pass it back to ds!

Charming. The things we go through as parents eh!

PollyPelargonium52 · 29/09/2018 11:15

I know Ovex is mebendazole but it does sound similar in its name/properties maybe??

oldbirdy · 29/09/2018 11:17

One of my kids went bright red after taking ovex. Was alarming but apparently it is a common side effect. Harmless and he woke up normal colour the following morning.

Hawkmoth · 29/09/2018 11:20

I was very very tired once after taking it. Exhausted for two days. It may have been a stress reaction though... there were a lot of worms and I hadn't realised, which was just awful.

oldbirdy · 29/09/2018 11:29

...or maybe it was pripsen that turned him red. Can't recall...

donajimena · 29/09/2018 11:34

Ah pripsen. Now, THAT was nasty! The side effect from that was a grimace and nausea.
Ovex, never had a side effect. Just relief.

PollyPelargonium52 · 29/09/2018 11:47

I can feel weak with headaches and tired legs from the thrush tablet so who knows if it will be the same with the worms medication .....!

Off to wipe door handles now lol.
