somy ds aged 7 has asked if we can have an indoor festival next weekend when dh is on nightshift. i was thinking about making a wee fort type thung in the living room and having a little picnic. but i would be really greatfull if some of you clever mumsnetters had any other ideas of what i could do to make it better. any ideas welvome and could stretch to a purchasing a few things but ideally as cheap as possible... any ideas?? Facepainting? Make popcorn? Make bunting to decorate? Don't flush your loo for a few days for that authentic festival stink?

Turn all the lights out and get some glowsticks.

You could get little battery operated lamps instead of using your electric lights. And music of course!

There are some great tutorials on making indoor tents with sheets online. Try and make one near a plug socket so that you can have a kettle in your tent and make hot chocolate. You could even use it to make instant noodles if you want a proper festival experience!
Perhaps get some glow sticks and bubble mixture, and maybe some temporary tattoos or neon body paint.

In our house it's just a king sized bed sheet over the dining room table!
