Moderate carbohydrate diets linked to better health outcomes

Low carb high animal protein diets are associated with a greater harmful effect than high refined carb (4 year reduction in life expectancy, compared to 1 for high carb)

The study quoted in the guardian pools data from 8 large studies, so these findings are significant. I find it interesting that they mention plant based proteins/fats as being related to better outcomes and “the more plant based [the diet was] the lower the mortality”.

Surely it’s time to stop promoting low carb diets? No-one would promote smoking as a weight loss tool, so surely the same standards should apply?
