Cleaning crystal

I have several lead crystal decanters which have been languishing in attics etc for some time. I want to use them but they are quite dirty. Obviously they had a dunk in a sinkful of hot soapy water but I am worried about damaging them.

Would anyone have any tried and tested ways of getting them spotless? One has green mould at the bottom Envy

Just bumping for more traffic then I'll google Kim and Aggie. I have looked online but just wondered if anyone has a tried and tested amazing method for getting them clean and sparkly.

I have used strong bathroom cleaning products on crystal with reasonable success. A long soak in very hot water and laundry detergent (Ariel) is very effective - better by far than washing up liquid. I also tend to stick old china and glass in the dishwasher! It comes up a treat.

Add uncooked rice to it and water/washing up liquid.

Swirl about and rice will help clean the insides as a very mild abrasive

I recently bought some from charity shops . They had a film over them. I just popped them into the dishwasher. Disclaimer: I clicked because I thought this was going to be a woo thread!
