Any suggestions for a three day break with ds (16)? Bereavement and family illness mean we have missed our family holiday so looking to take ds away for a long weekend at the start of September. Must be no more than 5 hours flying time, budget for flights and hotel approx £6-700 each. TIA

What do you both like to do? Barcelona has plenty of different things a beach some historical bits football stadium tours etc.
Relatively cheap flights from lots of UK airports.

Will take a look at Barcelona thanks! We are happy to potter around the shops, eat out, go to some museums.

Berlin would be the other alternative I would suggest.

Rome, fantastic city, lots to do and see, good shops, plenty of restaurants of all grades.

If that's your thing another possible is Seville. Alcazar is right in middle of city next to cathedral. Lots of little squares with bars etc for People watching.Budget airlines fly to Seville airport very easy transfer etc.

Barcelona, hands down

Are you on Facebook? Search for HolidayPirates, they’re amazing. They’ve always got holidays and mini breaks on there really cheap. We went to Iceland last year for 4 nights for 200pp. That’s flights and hotel.

Amsterdam. Masses of interesting stuff to see but v.small so perfect for 3 days.

3 hrs on the train direct from London at pancreas if you are in SE but flights otherwise

Lisbon is pleasant and also very reasonable if you eat in the untouristy parts .
