Spiders

I need help and MN always has the answer for everything so I really hope to get a few good responses.

In the past 2 days we have had 2 absolutely MASSIVE spiders in our lounge. Yesterday an enormous spider just casually made its way across the floor towards my toddler DS and all I could do was grab my son and run whilst yelling for DH to kill it. Then the big bastard on the wall this morning was so huge and strong that when my DH used the (fully charged) Dyson V8 to suck it off the wall, it actually held on and wouldn't go into the hoover!!!!

Obviously I suggested a can of petrol and a box of matches but DH seems to think there are less extreme solutions. I've been on google and found a bunch of different sprays but I have no idea what to buy. Repellent? Traps? Conkers?

Does anyone have any tried and tested methods to keep the big scary spiders out of the house? I literally cannot relax anymore and I need to do something so I can sit in the lounge without constantly scanning for spiders.

Indorex.

Spray it around likely areas at
Night and if a spider walks on it it will die.

I may spray "safe zones" round my bed and my tv chair!!

ButtermilkBiscuits · 16/08/2018 17:19

Ok @Silvertap I've looked on Amazon and it's flea spray? Can you send me a link to whatever you're buying? Grin

That's the one. Big old spray can thing. I read about it on here and it's amazing stuff!

misstblue2 · 16/08/2018 18:50

stock up on it op, after the hot summer we've had the spiders are gonna be massive this year.
big fuck off ones the size of mice with tattoos and swigging stella, just give in now, hand over your keys and admit defeat cos they are on the way
sits in the corner rocking

troodiedoo · 16/08/2018 18:52

Didn't know Indorex worked on spiders!

Betterware spider stop spray has been a good buy.
Also have a spider catching stick but haven't needed to use it yet.

Rainyoubastard · 16/08/2018 18:57

The massive house spiders are already in the house (so I read on MN last year) so no “keeping them out” unfortunatelySad

I was exceptionally brave pissed last week and moved one using just my hands. It sort of helped me...

Deathraystare · 16/08/2018 19:07

Also have a spider catching stick but haven't needed to use it yet.

Trudiedoo - I read that as a spider catching a stick!!!!!

holycityzoo · 16/08/2018 19:13

I woke up to find one stomping across my naked boobs the other morningShock
I grabbed it and launched across the room. I swear it had bloody great doc martens on.

troodiedoo · 16/08/2018 19:43

@Deathraystare they probably will be carrying sticks Grin

troodiedoo · 16/08/2018 19:45

Omg @holycityzoo that is terrifying.

madcatladyforever · 16/08/2018 19:46

i used to massive spiders here in the contryside and so I had the entire house fumigated in autumn and it seemed to kill the nests and residual spiders. Now I only ever see the very occasional spider if I leave the window open.
Unless you live in Bedforshire - for some reason all the spiders there seem to be monsters.

ButtermilkBiscuits · 16/08/2018 21:14

Ok so I'll buy the Indorex...I've also bought something called Digrain Insectaclear that gets good reviews on Amazon. I just can't abide spiders the size of my fist mincing around my house.

DunkandEggAgain · 16/08/2018 21:17

Mincing spiders!

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 16/08/2018 21:57

I've just bought 3 of the flea spray. Do I spray the window ledges?

spiderlight · 16/08/2018 22:04

Cedarwood oil and/or lemon oil. They hate it. I've sprayed it all over my floors this week and round doors/windows. We also have an ultrasonic repeller plugged in - bought it to help evict some mice but apparently works for spiders as well so we've kept it on.

Silvertap · 17/08/2018 12:26

I do corners and windowsills and Likely spider hideouts.

And I live in Bedfordshire!! Maybe we just have massive monsters!!!

Angie169 · 17/08/2018 12:50

Aww poor spiders, don't kill them they won't hurt you .
This one wanted me to share my treat with him .

Coconutcake0 · 17/08/2018 13:40

I had one huge fucker come in through the shower vent last night. I noticed him whilst tending to DS who was vomiting into the loo. Left DS to is whilst i ran screaming to get DH. He just threw it outsude. Bastard will be back tonight no doubt. I swear its the same one i Saw on Sunday.

Coconutcake0 · 17/08/2018 13:41

Jesus Christ this thread has me reaching for the Valium

CurbsideProphet · 17/08/2018 14:04

We've had loads of spiders recently. The ones with small bodies and massive legs Sad They come out in particular places. Every morning I have to take the hoover into the kitchen and check the "hot spots" Angry

Hamandcheesebaguette · 17/08/2018 14:07

Bloody hell Angie... if there was one that size in my house I would pack up the dogs and leave immediately.

I'm having heart palpitations just thinking about it.

I try really hard not to be hysterical now and am getting better with ones smaller than a 10p coin but more than that and I'm not making any promises
