What to spend £50 on

glenthebattleostrich · 16/08/2018 16:33

I'm 40 in a week and my mum has just phoned to tell me she is putting £50 in my bank account so I can choose a present.

I'm not allowed to spend it on gin or my DD (which is what I usually end up doing!)

But I'm not sure what I want/need!

I have just bought new glasses (which was top of my want/need list)
H has offered a new phone (my screen is very cracked)
Have tons of beauty things and am a bit fat so don't really want clothes.

Yes, I know I sound difficult but I thought by the power of MN you wonderful people might have some suggestions!

If it was me - new jeans, always feel great in them and may spur me on to work towards needing a smaller size!!
Or put it towards prescription shades!!
Love mine!

New bras! Kind of new clothes but a supportive bra can make you feel and look a lot better

DunesOfSand · 16/08/2018 16:37

New bag or wallet?
New hairdryer or straighteners?
Books?
New watch or piece of jewlery?

Happy Birthday

Ankle boots for when it’s autumn/rainy

cjt110 · 16/08/2018 16:44

New pjs or bed linen. Or both.

How about a massage or a facial, if you don't need stuff? Or you could use it to go for a nice afternoon tea with DH or DD on your birthday.

Justanotheruser01 · 16/08/2018 17:17

A luxury me night a new pair of pjs the fancy bubble bath instead of the radox or a lush bath bomb something i enjoy for tea and a bottle of prosecco. If you find the right bargains may be even a new bed set.

Zoflorabore · 16/08/2018 17:19

100% I would get perfume :)

PurpleTigerLove · 16/08/2018 17:39

A beautiful photo frame . Can you put some money towards a silver one ? Books , a print , some earrings . Some pretty pottery - Nicholas Mosse or Emma Bridgewater.

A massage. Sports massage preferably. Hurts like a fucker but then you come out feeling all loose and happy.

Raven88 · 16/08/2018 18:40

I would buy a Tokyo Treat box or new bed linen and pjs.

Racecardriver · 16/08/2018 18:42

Hotel chocolat?
True grace?
Do you have a hobby you could spend on?
Novels?
New hand bag?
New duvet set?

saganorenscarandcoat · 16/08/2018 18:51

It's be a new bag or perfume for me

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 16/08/2018 18:54

Jo Loves perfume

ILikePaperHats · 16/08/2018 18:59

Nice travel or toiletry bag. Or, a smart new makeup bag for all your makeup? Smile

glenthebattleostrich · 16/08/2018 19:02

Some ace ideas thanks.

My hobbies are sewing, reading, drinking gin and crochet. I've been told I'll be divorced if I buy more yarn or fabric!!! To be fair I have a massive stash and not enough time to use it all in the next 3 lifetimes 😁

I also have a bloody impressive gin collection.

Some lovely PJs would be amazing, excellent idea. Or some jewellery.

I bought a new leather purse with the £40 my DM gave me for my 40th birthday. I'm 45 soon and I still use it every day and it's still lovely - it has a lovely patterned silk lining.

I'd go with jewellry before PJs as it's likely to last longer. I don't do jewellry, but I really like having something special like the purse that I can remember as a present for a significant birthday.

Some nice candles and a cheap but massive handbag from primary!

Or a nice blanket.

Or a cuddly cosy cushion and a good mug.
