Why am I constantly burping?

I have had constant burping, immediately after eating or drinking, for more than a year and it is driving me mad! I had my gallbladder removed in February this year as GP felt this may be the cause but the problem has remained, although I was told I have a fatty liver. I’m on Omeprazole and Ranitidine as an endoscopy showed mild gastritis and I know that I suffer quite badly with reflux and indigestion. But how can I stop this incessant burping? It’s there even if I simply have some water to drink. There’s no pattern to it at all. The past two days I’ve had a dull pain where my gallbladder was but I don’t know if this is connected. I’m just so desperate to get the symptoms under control and, most importantly, find out the cause.

Do you eat quickly or not chew your food enough maybe?

No, I actually eat my food quite slowly. Always last to finish a meal. But the burping happens even after sipping some water. Definitely have reflux despite the medication so I’m wondering if that may be a cause but my GP doesn’t seem to feel there’s a definite link. It’s awful, happening all day every day.

gastritis is the cause surely. DD had it recently. She was burping all the time with it. It's better now, but it took quite a while for the meds to do their job.

Thanks life, I didn’t realise that gastritis can cause burping symptoms. I’m glad your daughter is better. What medication was she on?

When you say you sip do you suck in. DH does this rather than pour and burps constantly. He must take loads of air in with Amy drink. Make sure you’re tipping your cup.
