Here I am again...in the same place I was a year ago. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and am on medication. I have to fly today on a 11 hour flight (with a break) and I haven’t slept all night. I’m crying my eyes out...I have thrown up twice and just a wreck, I have a 4 yo dd who is very excited and I cannot ruin the trip for her. But I just feel like I cannot do this...

Going through all the same issues again but trying my best to hold it together...

You got through the journey there, you WILL get through the journey backSmile

Be kind to yourself now. You did very well on your way, you CAN do this on the way back.
Try and stay nice and calm. Watch people going by, read your kiddie a story, go and wander around the duty free shop and think what you could buy for friends and relatives.

Be brave. Good luck xx

It is a 3 am flight from Sri Lanka so my dd is sleeping. I am listening to some podcasts and trying not to focus on anything around me too much.

You will be fine. I hate flying and a couple of things I’ve found helpful watching foreign films with subtitles (have to focus a bit more so it’s distracting) and doing jigsaws on a tablet.

Break the journey down into small segments rather than thinking of it as one long journey. Take off bit, then food, then play with dd, then x, then y. Mentally tick off each bit and give yourself a pat on the back.

And grounding techniques if you start to panic. And do tell the air stewards. They’re great with nervous passengers.

Oh, Sri Lanka. It’s on my list of places I’d like to visit. What’s the best thing you did on your holiday?

WreckTangle111 · 01/09/2018 05:02

In transit to catch the fight to the UK. Just trying to keep calm by slow breathing...
Wrong I am visiting family..but other than that the visit to Galle and the beaches were the most memorable.

Well done. One more leg to go. Then you're home

ButtonMirror · 01/09/2018 06:52

Only just seen this bit you are doing amazingly well. When you read this you will be home 😁

WreckTangle111 · 01/09/2018 07:22

Thank you for your support I am still waiting to board. All this waiting is not helping but I am trying my best with breathing distraction etc. Fingers crossed..

You can do this! Think of your home..your bed... your favourite mug.. anything that you like most about your home.

GriseldaChop · 01/09/2018 07:40

You've got this! I was told to take big deep breaths and it works for me, breathe in for count if 7 and out for count of 7. Really makes you focus helps keep your breathing calm. You'll be home soon and then can reflect on how lovely your time in Sri Lanka was. Thanks

Chimchar · 01/09/2018 09:42

By the time you read this, you'll be on solid ground again. Well done...you did it!
Have a safe trip home and relax when you get there. X

WrongKindOfFace · 01/09/2018 09:50

You'll be on the home stretch now, I think? Hope it passes quickly and uneventfullly.

The beaches do look amazing. I’m going to read up on Galle now.

Are you home?
