Autism assesment DD7

Hi this is going to be long winded and probably in the wrong place but here goes,
DD has been being assessed for being on the spectrum since she was 3 now 7 and I still feel as hopeless as all those years ago. I am so desperate to get a diagnosis as she is struggling in school not with the learning just with the being there and being different. She is a very emotional child when she's confused and doesn't know what's happening and will not ask the teacher for help (no matter how many times we've told her to just ask them) because she thinks she's annoying them. Her teacher to be fair is not trained to deal with kids with additional needs but he is pretty useless with her and I don't feel like without the diagnosis they won't listen to what I'm telling them. I don't really know what I want from this post I just feel I need to rant before she goes back to school and maybe get some tips on how to handle the teacher for next year 😑

Who has been involved with the assessment? Is your DD under CAMHS? Is the EdPsych involved? If things are taking too long please go back to your GP and ask what's going on.

I had the same with my DD: it took nearly three years to get a diagnosis (she got one age 7). The ADOS test they do is pretty old and geared up towards boys. Girls often slip through the net. ☹️

None of this are involved like I said the school don't seem too bothered and I'm pretty sure it's because she's one of the smartest in her class so not struggling and the quietest in the class. Her teacher has filled in the questionnaire this year and her teacher from last year also filled it in but if I had to fill in that questionnaire you'd swear blind that they were on about different children. I'm sure because she's so well behaved she just slips through the net as she has quite a lot of trouble makers in her class ! She's not involved with cahms although pretty soon I'm going to ask about them as she quite frequently comes home from school wanting to be dead because everybody hates her 😪 she does have anxiety and I will be addressing it the next time I see her pediatrician which should be within the next month or so
