Today’s RightMove find...

During my daily Rightmove browsing session (don’t judge me), I came across this beauty.

It actually made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The child’s bed with no bedding, the old fashioned TV with the lamp, the swinging chair in the garden....it looks like something from a really creepy horror movie!

Sorry if this is your house Grin

That would be so gorgeous if de-chintzed

lastqueenofscotland · 17/08/2018 16:39

I think that’s gorgeous!

ScreamingValenta · 17/08/2018 16:41

I like it, but I agree with a pp that having to steam off all the wallpaper would be a PITA.

It's nowhere near me, but about the same as you'd get for the price in my area - sadly far out of my budget.

zippyswife · 17/08/2018 16:43

Oh I want it! Where’s Mansfield...

popocatepetals · 17/08/2018 16:46

That would cost well over £1m more than that if it was round here.

SoupDragon · 17/08/2018 16:46

Yawn at all the '£700k wouldn't even buy a shoe box round here' comments.

Meh. There are always an equal amount of comments expressing shock at London house prices on equivalent threads.

The house is amazing though :)

MonaLisaSimpson · 17/08/2018 16:51

I think it's lovely, am I the only one who likes the kitchen?

Agree that the writeup is bloody odd though!

Grasslands · 17/08/2018 16:54

It certainly has potential.

Hellohah · 17/08/2018 16:56

The second picture ceiling had me 😮

CherryPlum · 17/08/2018 17:05

Lovely house but the write up is sooo strange! The owners seem to love the place so much, it's quite off-putting because you can just picture it as their home, he even mentions the wife cooking while he watches from the kitchen stool. I think a less personal, more factual approach is better!

CrazyDaisy2018 · 17/08/2018 17:05

I'm off to see whether the descriptions for other properties from the same estate agents are as nutty!

The bath randomly plonked in the middle of the bathroom of this one is odd and the strange kitchen cupboard doors. I think that's deliberate as the edging around the units it the same, but it's v weird.

The 2nd picture made me slightly queasy with all the patterns!

PanPanPanPing · 17/08/2018 17:06

I love that house. With some serious TLC and upgrading it would be absolutely stunning.

As for the blurb. I suspect the vendor has insisted on having their own wording - whilst the EA was probably cringing, but couldn't do anything about it!!

EnidButton · 17/08/2018 17:12

I'm not getting haunted house vibes at all. It's an amazing house on the outside. Decor not my cup of tea but mine probably wouldn't be their's either. I think it's seen a lot of love and life and it's been very cared for.

EnidButton · 17/08/2018 17:12

I didn't read the blurb..

Storm4star · 17/08/2018 17:18

I must be very strange because I actually really like it! Decor and all! But then I'm not into modern minimalism so it would suit me.

Clutterbugsmum · 17/08/2018 17:18

It seems like there are 2 generations living in the house. The younger generation have upgraded the bathrooms and kitchen and the older generation seemed to have decorated the rest of the rooms.

WoodenCat · 17/08/2018 17:33

Why can’t estate agents look at their own pages? If I were paying someone a fee to sell my house I’d be royally fucked off with photos like that - the landing one twice, a garden one twice, a kitchen one twice. They have 6 bedrooms but they only show 3, 1 of which is a sparsely decorated attic room. Random picture of an old telly with lamp on top. No photo of the dining room or the garden room or the entrance hall despite two of these being nostalgically described by the owner. Two living rooms shown in photos but not described as such on the floor plan. It’s not my house but it’s made me irrationally annoyed!

ButchyRestingFace · 17/08/2018 17:38

Given how in love the owners appear to be with their property, I find this thread a touch ... mean spirited. (sorry, sorry) Blush

I do hope the owners don't read AIBU.

And yes, you obviously get a lot of bang for your buck in their neck of the woods. Grin

Wow- that's an amazing house- wasn't what I was expecting to see!

Yes, it needs updating, but I could see a family being very happy in it. Not sure Mansfield is for me though...

PolkerrisBeach · 18/08/2018 12:41

It's like a tale of two houses - very modern bathroom and fairly up to date kitchen, with very dated decor elsewhere.

nothing wallpaper stripper and several gallons of paint wouldn't fix.

MismatchedStripySocks · 18/08/2018 18:28

Lovely house with loads of potential. That would cost double that where I live Sad Even £695k is too much tbh!

MargaretDribble · 18/08/2018 18:54

If they love the house, why are they moving? It made me wonder what is wrong with it. Subsidence maybe.
I bet the EA wrote the flowery prose. There are a couple near us who go in for it. Not my cup of tea (the prose, not the house).

BarbaraofSevillle · 18/08/2018 19:57

Maybe it's too big for them and/or they want to release the equity as part of retirement financial planning?

Toddlerteaplease · 18/08/2018 20:33

I wouldn't pay that much money to live in Mansfield!
