I woke up this morning in the south of France.

I think I found my true home. The food..the weather..the language/accent and how romantic it is..the shutters on the windows, the view from my holiday balcony..the mountains..the sea..how green it is.. I was born to flit about looking (in my dreams) like Bridget Bardot in 50's style dresses driving in open top cars....

......ahhhhhh I want to go back right now!!!!

If I announce to my friends I am only going to speak in franglais from now on and watch french films on amazon do you think they will think I am weird?!!!

(This was inspired by a mumsnet trans thread but is meant to be much more light hearted!!)

If you could change nationalities who would you be?

I love French (have a French degree and taught it for a few years), but recently I’ve been thinking of how much I’d enjoy being Spanish

Frustratedboarder · 15/08/2018 21:52

I love ze French also! Magnifique!! 😄 The language and mannerisms are so expressive - and the weather and food where we used to go on hols as kids (south) are just incredible... 😋 However like Saturday I also have begun a recent love affair with Spanish, for pretty much the same reasons...

Maybe I can start a new nationality - Franish?!? Grin

I’d love to be Italian. Or Spanish. I look quite Spanish... olive skin and dark brown curly hair... I love the nationalities where they have a big family and get togethers and cook lots of food and eat all together, usually outside... I just like the closeness of it all and I’m sad we don’t really do that where I am and also definitely not in my family!

I would definitely like to be franish too!! That sounds like a great idea!!!

We would all be a franish huge family and we could have family dinners. Really late under some olive trees and fairy lights and none of our children would be tired, crying or running around.

C'est bueno manifique!

I'd quite like to be Swedish. I have only ever been on a day trip to Sweden (from Denmark) but it was a great day, mostly due to frequent fika (cake) breaks.

Imfinehowareyou · 15/08/2018 22:23

The children would be running around but everyone would just smile beautifully at them and maybe ruffle their hair as they pass.

I don't want to go bed...I am seriously close to post holiday blues.

I think I am about to go make a hot water bottle.......ahhhhhhhhhhh sob sob....

Ooh, I agree. I've had dreams where I've been fluent in French. I love the language, the food, the wine, the scenery and the culture. (Obviously from a tourists only POV though)! Viva la France!

Rachelsholiday · 15/08/2018 22:29

I am on holiday in the Netherlands outs beautiful, clean, open spaces and anyone speaks English I could happily live hear.

thetwinkletoescollective · 15/08/2018 22:34

Right, my husband has called me to go to bed and I have to be up at 5.45am tomorrow but I think distraction is good.

Continuing the Franglish family party...

Grand mere and Grand Papa smile and nod and then go to the kitchen to get more food!! There is so much delicious food. Including a 'french flan' that I think was made in heaven.

(I actually had this today in a french service station and it was amazing!! You could go on an actual dinner date to that service station the food was so good!)
