Reposted from the 'what are we reading' topic. I'm impatient and need to order something ASAP!

What other books would you recommend? It's for a friend who is bed bound. She loves fantasy, Game of thrones etc

@strawberrypenguin I read a book called Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, must be 15ish years ago - is that part of the series? I can’t remember much other than the main character was called Ellen(?) and she was the only female werewolf

A bit YA but I really enjoyed Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter series - The Mortal Instruments (6 books); Infernal Devices (3 books); the dark artifices (2 books so far, 3rd our in December). Also would recommend hunger games.

For something a bit more grown up in line with true blood, I would say lexi blake's Theives series (5 books) and then spin off series called Hunter (3 books). All about vampires, werewolves, demons, faeries and angels. Has a bit of descriptive sex in it as well.

@TheHalfBloodPrincess yep it is. First one I think. She mixes it up between different female protagonists but all in the same 'universe' so there are several books with Elena as the main character, some with a witch, one with a ghost, a clairvoyant etc. The storylines all sort of come together eventually but most can be read stand alone too

Kelley Armstrong ( yes it’s elena @TheHalfBloodPrincess) fab series!
Christine feehan does some fab series too.
if you go on the website literature-map.com and type in the author you like it will show you others who are similar -brilliant way to find new authors.

Ermmm J.R. Ward - the black dagger brotherhood series.

As I said it can be a bit Blushraunchy in places but it's an enjoyable read if she's into vampire fiction

Purplepinkpurple · 15/08/2018 23:07

Garth nix abhorsen series

TheFlis12345 · 15/08/2018 23:10

Charlaine Harris, who wrote True Blood, has written 3 other series which are all pretty good (Midnight, Harper Connelly and Aurora Teagarden).

RiverTam · 15/08/2018 23:13

Ooh, I really didn’t like Harper Connelly, again, it was rather humourless.

  • the True Blood books
  • the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children trilogy
  • the Philip Pullman His Dark Materials trilogy
  • the Hunger Games trilogy

@strawberrypenguin thanks! I do remember I enjoyed it so I’ve reserved a copy in the library for my Sunday read!
