I apologise for the vagueness and probable mixing up of actors/years etc 
I remember watching a short story approximately 30 minutes or so, I think it was part of an 8-part series of shorts (about six years ago?) It was set in the US (NY I think) and the story focused on a guy who'd stayed out all night, got wasted and didn't make it home. He staggered home the next morning but only to find his wife had cleared out the apartment and left with the kid/s. There were a lot of angry phonecalls, his brother was involved etc but turned out the guy was so wasted he'd just tried to get into the apartment on the floor below.
The main actor was someone really well known, not James Gandolfini but someone of his ilk. I don't remember watching any more episodes but sure they were all self contained tales.
Does anyone know what I'm on about? 😲
