Just as the thread title says....can you freeze homemade banana muffins? Have just made a big batch, and trying to save money, so wondered if I could freeze them for kids playpiece? (Anticipating the question....playpiece is the snack our Scottish kids eat at their morning break in schoolGrin....and schools went back today too!)

Yes I don't see why not. We freeze that type of thing.

WinterBabyIsComing · 15/08/2018 14:15

Yes. I've done it and they were fine

Yes. Muffins freeze really well I find.

SneakyGremlins · 15/08/2018 14:18

No. You should send them to me instead. For, erm, safekeeping Wink

I've frozen them and I've also frozen it raw in the cases and they were fine too. I put the frozen ones in the oven from cold and baked them for a bit longer and they were perfect

Oh thanks for all your replies! I've somehow never managed to have any left at the end of the day to freeze before.....hence trying to do it before school pick up! Thanks everyone. I've just 'sampled' one...without the toddler seeing me,and they are very good, if I do say so myselfGrin

I never thought to do it raw before!

You can put them into a packed lunch frozen and they will keep everything else cold and defrost in time for lunch - baked first obvs.

Yes. I've started freeing them raw in silicone cases and cooking up a fresh batch when we fancy them. I make double the quantity too.
Also works for freezing raw cookie dough on trays then bagging the discs up and cooking when needed.

Yes I make big batches of mini ones for toddler and freeze. Take out and defrost in the microwave in around 10 seconds and they are perfect!

I also make veg muffins where I add finely grated veg like carrot, courgette to the mix with some cheese and these are delicious and great for kids too.
