I hope someone can help me here!! 😕 I have beengraving offered a position within the NHS as a HCA. I have my NVQ 2&3 already. My letter states that "On appointment your salary will be paid at a point on band 2: £17,460 - £18,702 pro rata per annum." 😮😮😮 when the salary on band 2 is alot lower... I'm so confused! As they've written this do they intend to pay me at least £17,460? Which is surely higher than pay band 2? Have they taken into account my 11 years care experience and qualifications and thought to pay me more? Not complaining if that's the case!😀 how do they decide what to pay? Someone please make some sense of this for me! 😥

It looks as though they’re starting you at a point near the top of the band 2 payscale. As you say, possibly due to your qualifications and experience.

Give the recruitment team a call tomorrow and clarify. Congratulations on your new job!

That's the new band 2 salary. The agenda for change pay rise increased it from 15000 to 17000

Hopefully your right! It will be a wonderful suprise if I was bringing that amount home after only bring £9000 per annum for the last 3 years for the same 30hours a week! And thank you for the well wishes x

£17460 covers points 2 - 6 on band 2, I think. It might be worth asking what point you are being taken on at as that will give you the date of your next step up point.

I might be wrong - the agenda for change salaries have all been updated recently.

Congratulations!

Yep, £17,460 is now the lowest point in a band 2. So you’ll get at least that (if you’re full time), and additional enhancements if you’re doing unsocial hours.

Congrats on the new job 😀

spikeyiscool · 15/08/2018 20:04

Just read you aren't full time. The above figures are for full time. So you'll need to work out what percentage you are being paid.

Cheby · 15/08/2018 20:07

Ah, just re-read, are you doing 30hrs? If so your salary before unsocial hours payments would be £13,968.
