Giffgaff phone only deal - is it as cheap as it looks?

I have smashed up my phone and need a new one. Currently on a sim only deal with Vodafone which I'm locked into for another year or so, so I just need a new handset.

Giffgaff are selling the phone I'd like (Moto g5) much cheaper than elsewhere, and it looks like I would just have to buy a ten pound "goody bag" on top of it, with no further commitment/ contract. Also looks like I can just put my Vodafone SIM card in the as it is sold unlocked.

This all seems a bit too good to be true to me, am I missing something? Any knowledgeable phone people who can help me out?!

I always use giffgaff. Much cheaper than using another network and using my staff discount. I even get all my kids phones on giffgaff

Yes. We all have Giff Gaff - DH, and I just have PAYG and a goody bag when we travel, two adult DC have £7.50 goody bags.

You can't use your Vodafone SIM card though as you need a Giff Gaff one to get their network.

I like MotoG phones, I've had two.

Ah just realised I misunderstood. Yes they are unlocked and you could use your own SIM.

Giffgaff, brilliant. DH has Goody Bag, I have PAYG. DS was so impressed he has converted and has saved £s

A other giffgaff fan here and yes the phones are unlocked. I would consider moving to giffgaff when your Vodafone contract ends

superking · 14/08/2018 18:32

Ok thanks all, I will take the plunge and may well switch when my contract ends too.

I am on Giffgaff and went onto them when dd was at university as it meant I could call her free at anytime. She has now got married and and had a child we are able to phone each other whenever necessary.

I had a £10 a month deal with GiffGaff. They messaged me and said their £7.50 deal would be enough for my use age. I liked that.

The great thing with Giff Gaff is that you can change your tariff each month if necessary. I've just had a month on their £20 tariff because we were on holiday and I needed a load of 4G data, now I'm back on their £10/month tariff. All done through their app.

Giffgaff are great 😊

I bought my last phone from them, new; latest phone, used, I got from amazon but only because they didn’t have any. Just sold my last phone to them, for a bit less than its eBay value but quick & easy.

I normally use £7.50 goody bag & they’ve just increased data from 1GB to 2GB which is brilliant. If you happen to have a data crisis one month you can just start your next goody bag early instead of paying a lot per MB Smile

Thanks-I've just ordered a sim-£5 is great!
