Am seriously considering buying one for a big birthday for myself. Just don’t want it to languish on the worktop. Please can you tell me how often you use yours and what you make with it. Thanks in anticipation Smile

Bread. A lot of bread.

And pasta using the pasta attachment

prunemerealgood · 14/08/2018 16:20

Pancakes
Cake batter
meringues, it's brilliant for those, you switch it on and get on with other stuff
minces meat with an attachment

Pizza dough

WooYa · 14/08/2018 16:23

Pasta, bread, meringue!

I don’t have that brand but my kitchen machine grates large quantities of cheese, veg, etc. It also mixes or kneads dough, juices oranges and blends baba gannouj and hummus or any kind of spread, plus smoothies etc. We are 5 so it gets used quite a bit.

TheCag · 14/08/2018 16:27

Bread dough, cake batter, meringues. I got the grater attachment too so I make big bowls of slaw in about a minute.

I’ve had one for almost 15 years, some months it’s used more than others but it’s as good as new. You can buy spare parts for them too.

We make cakes (at least once a week), bread & pizza dough. It’s had plenty of use & has definitely been worth the cost & the space on the counter.

Just made sugar cookies,
Meringues
Cakes
Pizza dough
Swiss meringue buttercream

I got mine for Christmas last year- it’s a fantastic mixture and looks great on the worktop. We use it mainly for cakes and bread - thinking of asking for the pasta maker attachment for Christmas this year.

Wow so many messages already! Thanks to all your messages. At the moment I use a hand held electric whisk for meringues and make pizza dough in the breadmaker. Is it better in the stand mixer? Fancy the pasta maker attachment too GoatYoga - has anyone got that and is it worth getting please?

Don't get one with a glass bowl. A friend of mine did, and not only is it heavy, she dropped it on the floor and broke it. replacements can be nearly £100. I love mine and use it at least once a week. Brilliant for cake batters, and also meringues.

Mumof3teens · 14/08/2018 19:06

Good point, thanks Buxtonstill.

Bread, pizza, pasta, cakes, biscuits, meringues, mashed potato, dog biscuits. It's in use every day.
Though mine is a Kenwood titanium, not a KitchenAid.

Everyone here seems to be mentioning meringues. I bought one recently when Currys was selling it for £270. I haven't opened it yet though.

How might I make the meringues (recipe/instrcutions)? I could do that with strawberries and cream...

Macarons and cakes!

DH got me mine for my 21st birthday; I make cakes for a living so it’s always just been for that and the attachments are expensive so I never branched out. Nowadays with the babies around I do fewer cakes so the kitchen aid comes out of the cupboard as and when. This thread has pepped me up to try more though!
