I hate my body sometimes. It lets me down. I exercise loads, I don't overeat. And it does this to me. Fuck you body.

If you're not over eating then it's just water, frustrating and I share your pain, but i find my weight changes by that much throughout the month, even if my eating/drinking/exercise etc has been stable.

I can put on 4lbs overnight!!! Unless I am a saint at all times I cannot maintain from day to day.

junebirthdaygirl · 14/08/2018 09:38

Could be gone by tomorrow. Lots of water/ fruit today.

MyAuntyBadger · 14/08/2018 09:41

I can gain that in day if I put my mind to it. Agree with parklives, it's probably water retention.

PutYourGlassesOn · 14/08/2018 09:41

Easily. I put on half a stone when I get my period, it goes on the day my period starts and goes the day it finishes.

MargoLovebutter · 14/08/2018 09:45

catstring you can't put on 4lb of fat in a week, so it will be water weight.

Don't be cross with your body for doing what it is supposed to do to keep you going and deal with all the hormonal changes etc. I doubt anyone else will know, unless someone picks you up on a regular basis.

I get so sad that women are filled with hatred and loathing towards their bodies. We are flipping amazing - all of us, whatever shape we are. It is great to be healthy and look after yourself and value what you have and want it to be the best it can be - but that should come from a good place, not one of hatred!

As a back story, I recently lost 2 stone and got fit/more toned. But I focused on getting strong, not thin. I learned to love my body. Not what it looked like but rather what it could do. Have babies, breast feed and now do endurance events!
But I've started to struggle again with mood and energy and disliking my body. My weight has been swinging about again after being stable.
Tell me to get out running tonight!

What you are doing and have done sounds great and fantastic. Why do you think you struggling at the moment? Did something spark off your mood change? Could you be pushing yourself too hard?

funmummy48 · 14/08/2018 09:57

4lbs is nothing. One big poo and it'll be gone! 😉

catstring · 14/08/2018 10:09

A big poo would be so good right now Grin

Thanks mumsnetters, just needed a moan. Yes I've been pushing myself really hard, recently raised money for charity doing a brutal endurance thing and I think I've just crashed a bit. I have three kids, it's the summer hols, I just feel drained tbh.
The weight gain was a kick in the teeth.
However, I don't have much right to moan. Just need to buck up.
How are you all this am?

It's fine to have a moan - we all need to sometimes. Be kind to yourself and if you feel drained, there is a message there. As long as you stay eating well, it is ok to rest for a few days and not push yourself to breaking point. Remember you haven't gained weight - you've gained water!!!!

Your recent "brutal" exercising is likely to have caused a bit of a backlash and an effect on the way your body is storing energy. Give it time and it will reset to your normal.

I just had a weekend away and ate loads more than usual. Monday morning I was 4 pounds heavier than Friday morning. This morning, 2 pounds of that was already gone. The other 2 pounds might just be my punishment for the heavy weekend, but I expect to be able to lose it easily over the next week or so.

In the scheme of losing 2 stone, 4 pounds is minimal. Just keep an eye on it and make changes if it starts to creep up further.

This is why scales are so so unhelpful. It will be water, not fat. So easily done, especially as a woman with hormones in the mix. I find measurements and photos so much more helpful.

I'm guilty of it as well, but I hate that so much of our happiness is through what number the scales show in the morning.
