One actually useful troll thread in ten years on here

We've just had a fire alarm go off at the hotel I'm staying at for work and I had my trousers, coat and shoes right by the door where I knew I'd find them, after that thread a few months back that I'm pretty sure was a troll photoed in her/his pants.

I'm not encouraging trolls but turns out some of the other advice on the thread was really useful!

Not sure how much sleep I'll get now but hey, I got to see a fire engine with flashy lights.

What...so you're meant to put the stuff you might need by the door in hotels incase of emergencies? Sounds like a useful tip! Thanks!

JugglingMonkeys · 14/08/2018 06:40

Essentially yes. Stops the faffing about, it was my first alarm on quite some time.

You’re right there - years ago I had this, all the blokes on the course were wandering around in their undies clutching a keycard whereas I had on shoes dressing gown and had handbag!

I was drilled in stuff like this by my DDad - documents, keys, other important stuff always in bag in same place (right next to bed, for me, with phone as alarm on top) with coat and shoes. Also, he taught me to check the fire escape route as soon as you're in the room, because if there's anything awkward about it (or it's blocked) better to find out in calm daytime, not during a nighttime alert.

judging by the heap of clothes next to dh side of the bed, he is well prepared!
Good point though, I might keep my handbag next to me when I sleep.

That is a good idea. Last time I heard an alarm when in a hotel I was trying to find clothes of DH's that I could fit into! He's smaller than me.

I realised my coat was in our car, I hadn't packed PJs and had been wearing an evening gown which I was too tipsy to work out how to get on! Luckily it was the kitchen burning things so it went off 😂
