Who gets which bedroom?

We have a family holiday coming up, the first one we've done with extended family. The villa we've booked has two floors, with a double bedroom and a twin bedroom on each floor. There are 3 couples (DPs, DB and SIL, me and DP) and two children (mine) coming. The children will obviously take one twin bedroom. I'd happily take the other twin room but then that leaves the DC on a different floor and they do get up in the night (they're 5 and 8). Me and DP are arriving first. I don't want DB and SIL to be narked with us for nicking the double bedroom up for grabs. I think I might be over-thinking this but have got my head in a tangle. WWYD?

Ask everyone!

You should be on the same floor as the kids if they get up, so nobody else has to deal with them. So it's up to the inlaws and parents to figure out who gets the double and twin on the other floor.

Why don't you ask them what they'd prefer? In a "we are happy to take the twin room but then one of you couples would be on the same floor as the children and first in line if they wake up" way?

Whoever organised the holiday overall should have first choice imo.

Definitely sort it out before you go.

Some couples prefer twin rooms, so it might sort itself out nicely.

My DPs have booked and paid for the holiday so they're definitely getting the other double!

We were at DB's house yesterday so I should have just asked then but completely forgot Blush I'll give the villa a call and ask if one of the sets of twin beds can be swapped for a double, but if not i'll just give DB a call and let him know the options.
