Best Premier Inn for London sightseeing?

We want to do the typical sights, like the museums, Big Ben and all that. On a budget and have 2 kids, 10 and 7 so thinking of a premierinn, which one is best placed for a couple of days kid friendly sight seeing? Or does it not really make a difference, in which case would you recommend one in particular? We'll be flying into Gatwick as we're visiting from abroad.

We like County Hall

I was thinking that one looked good, yes.

This sounds offbeat, but we stayed at Putney Bridge PI. It’s an easy 15-20 min bus journey to South Kensington, (bus stop is right outside the hotel). but we went because it was a lot cheaper than the more central ones. Walking distance over the bridge to Putney High Street, for all sorts of chain restaurants etc for evening meals. And the family room we had was huge!!!

The one behind Tate Modern is a hop and a skip from Blackfriars, we vary between County Hall and this one for visits.

Putney Bridge you say?

purplecorkheart · 13/08/2018 16:39

Very pleased with County Hall although we prefer the rooms at the front.

Redcrayons · 13/08/2018 16:44

County Hall is great, in walking distance of most of the sights so you don’t need to bother with tube.

I’ve also stayed at Archway, which is right next door to the tube station and Holborn, bit of a walk to Covent Garden.

Once you’re inside they’re all pretty much the same.

We just stayed in the one in Brixton. It was fine for sleeping in, 5 minutes walk from the underground and you could get to most sightseeing hot spots in under 15 minutes. It was about £100 cheaper at least than the next one nearest to the city.

Avoid Euston Road - the PI closest to Euston Station. The other PI on the same road but at Kings Cross end is nice as is the actual Kings Cross one which is just behind KX station.

What about London Kensington (Olympia) is that museum area? Worth considering?

We stayed at the Putney Bridge one too. V easy travel, direct bus to the museums and right by the tube. There's a really good park across the road too. It was SO much cheaper than most of the others, perhaps because it's an ugly building, but our room was great.

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 13/08/2018 20:09

The buses from Putney Bridge are excellent, very frequent. I think 20 mins to the museums may be optimistic however.
Olympia is not especially near the museums, they are at South Kensington

We've stayed at the one near Tower Bridge a couple of times and found it very convenient. Obviously there's the bridge and Tower of London very close and the tube is just a couple of minutes away.

We stayed in a premier inn by kings cross and it was good. I use superbreak now and their prices are good. You can also add attractions too.

Big Ben is being renovated so you can’t really see it. We also have been to the clink prison museum near London Bridge. It isn’t expensive and about right for the ages of the kids.

OkMaybeNot · 13/08/2018 20:18

Yes, Putney Bridge.

I thought this was my secret best ever place Sad

donetodeath · 13/08/2018 20:22

🙋‍♀️ For Putney too!! Right across road from tube on a good line and so much cheaper than others, lots of shops nearby. I’ve just been looking for next week and it’s nearly £100 a night cheaper than some of the others!

Just back from London and stayed in the Premier inn at Blackfriars. It was great for sightseeing. St Paul's, Tower of London, Tate modern and a lovely walk to Westminster and all the museum's.
