Are jet2 any good ?

Always cautious when booking holidays and normally go into a Thomas cook shop to book it just feels more reassuring. I’m considering booking a package holiday with jet 2 probably to a hotel we have been to before. Are they realiable ? Anyone had problems?

Yes, we love Jet2

MsSquiz · 13/08/2018 13:11

We've flown 4 times with Jet2 this summer (there and back to both Ibiza and Portugal) and had no problems at all

Kidssendingmenuts · 13/08/2018 13:14

I've used jet 2 holidays for last 4 years and love them! Had no problems and the seats all have plenty of room without having to book extra leg room too.

we flew with jet 2 to Italy, had a weird experience, plane lost all power on the runway. They got it going again but I was terrified throughout the flight. Then on the way home, we had the worst landing ever, came down with a bump so harsh i bit through my tongue. But I also know lots who fly with them and have no issues at all.

WhatHaveIFound · 13/08/2018 13:18

I've used them many time over several years (both business and holiday travel) and have never had any problems. It's just the bloody Jess Glynne song that is annoying Grin

mypoosmellsofroses · 13/08/2018 13:21

They have some good things like being able to check your bags in at the hotel when leaving which is quite handy - (not done that just read it in magazine on a recent Jet2 flight.)

I thought the flight was actually awful, 5 ish hours, OK leg room but zero padding on seat and very uncomfortable. Constant flogging of stuff (even more than other airlines and I fly quite a lot) and really irritating bingy bongy jolly patronising recorded announcements. Hated it! On that trip I flew out with Easy Jet and then did a short flight with Cobalt, I expected those to be the grim ones and they were actually very good!

Oh, and they had the rankest smelling toasties I have ever encountered, let alone on a plane :)

guessmyusername · 13/08/2018 13:22

I like jet2 for flights but after going on one of their holidays 2 years ago I wouldn't do that again. We might have just been unlucky. The transfers were in this rickety old minibus with the driver going about 80 mph. We arrived in the resort to find there was no rep in our hotel. We wanted to book a trip but the rep would not visit our hotel for another 4 days. We were only there for a week! They gave us a phone number to phone but unfortunately my mobile provider had decided to cut me off (another story!). English speakers were very much in the minority in our hotel.

midgesummer · 13/08/2018 13:22

They were a major carrier in the airport closest to where we lived in UK and therefore we used them and I know lots of others who did, they were really friendly with DC and the rest of the service was fine. We had a package holiday to Croatia with them that was very smooth and used just flights as well.

Hoppinggreen · 13/08/2018 13:23

Never been in Holiday with them as we dint do package holidays but we fly with them regularly and like them

Groovee · 13/08/2018 13:24

Always found them to be good x

Tatiebee · 13/08/2018 13:25

We flew to Spain at Easter with Jet2 and it was fine, obviously no frills but we had no problems. The seats were a bit small and uncomfortable but it wouldn't put me off using them again.

Notthisnotthat · 13/08/2018 13:25

Flown with them and used them for a package deal. I liked the luggage allowance, booking was easy, no rep in resort but a folder with useful info was at reception but all of that was available online too. Going to Barcelona later on this year with them.

Rainshowers · 13/08/2018 13:32

We used them for a package last year and just flights this year. Some of the planes seemed really old but others not too bad. They always have loads of staff on check in (both here and abroad) and we’ve never had to queue for long. As a PP said there’s lots of selling on the flight and annoying announcements. Plus you can’t use iPads/headphones on take off/landing which is a bit of a pain when you have to tell the kids to turn them off!

ratspeaker · 13/08/2018 13:40

As package holiday provider I prefer them to Thomas Cook and now TUI.
They give you 22 kg of baggage.
Think seats are slightly bigger.
They fly from my local airport, we'll be heading off on Wednesday.

As for selling on flights , my last TUI , then Thomsons, had masses of "buy our perfume, snacks, donate to charity, " etc etc in flight

TSSDNCOP · 13/08/2018 13:47

Just returned from a Jet2 holiday. Couldn’t fault them. They were £500 less than Tui for the exact holiday!

Planes are all new, better leg room but hard seats. 4 hours on them max would be my hard limit.

Ground staff, cabin crew and Reps were all exemplary. In fact, our Rep was awesome when confronted with some fairly exacting problems.

We will use them again without hesitation.

TSSDNCOP · 13/08/2018 13:50

Just thought of one thing. They’d run out of Fruit Pastilles on the return flight. I compensated with a Twix, but not before the flight attendant had twice offered me her own Fruit Gums.

What’s not to love?

I don't know why, but these two comments have me crying with laughter.

ChipmunksAreMissing · 13/08/2018 14:13

We've just come back and they were great. Plane was a bit cold for the baby so the stewardess gave us her coat! Bless her!

SpadesOfGlory · 13/08/2018 14:16

We've had 2 great holidays with Jet2 so far, no complaints! Transfers were well organised and plenty of staff at the airport directing us to busses!

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/08/2018 14:44

Flown regularly with them.
Those cheesy voiceovers over the cabin tannoy...

Northernmum100 · 13/08/2018 14:51

We haven't booked a package with them but have done flights only. Really good, on time, clean and comfortable. We used their bag drop/ check in facility the night before ( we don't live too far away from the airport) which made for a stress free early morning flight.

littlepeas · 13/08/2018 14:52

I’ve never done a holiday with them but have flown with them a few times from bhx (new planes - think they may be older from other airports). I like them - would choose them over Ryanair!

StandardPoodle · 13/08/2018 19:43

I've flown with them for the last 2 years for a Med fly/cruise. The flights were on time and the legroom was better than I'd anticipated.
Would be happy to use them again.

Musicaltheatremum · 13/08/2018 19:53

One of the reasons they are uncomfortable is because they remove the seats every night and use the planes to transport mail. The side of the aircraft opens up and they lift several rows of seats out at once. I watched a TV programme about it once. This is why their flights are earlier on in the day.
Watched a TV programme about them once. 😂

IndigoSpritz · 13/08/2018 20:07

Musicaltheatremum. That may have been the case once but Jet2 haven't operated any night mail or cargo flights for about two years. All aircraft, including the old 737QCs, are now pure passenger carrying.
