Haven parks?

So we are wanting a few days away but money is very very tight (two children in private nursery) and I am looking at Haven parks. I'm very likely being a total snob but the idea of a holiday park has never appealed to me before, or now really... but I do think the kids would like it and with the Sun voucher codes it's dirt cheap.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a park? Either Northumberland or Yorkshire really as the others are too far. Any top tips or recommendations gratefully received.

Does it have to be a Haven? We went recently to a Parkdean site using Sun voucher codes - the one in Skegness was nice, and lots for kids to do!

Primrose Valley and Reighton Sands are nice, RS is the quieter of the two. Blue Dolphin was awful, would never go back. Haggerston is nice if you can get a caravan away from the main complex. Berwick is only a few miles away from Haggerston and much, much quieter but fewer activities. Lakeland in the Lake District was lovely too. We never use the night entertainment so no idea what any of them are like.

We have done the Yorkshire ones and Thornwick Bay was my favourite although PV has a more fun pool.

We went to Haggerston a few months ago and we had a great time! It was clean and lots to do, people were friendly, couldn't fault it

I know a few people who like the one near Grange over Sands.

All the Haven parks I’ve been to have been nice. Clean and basic, and they usually have a decent pool and pub type restaurant on site. We don’t spend much time on the site, they’re just a cheap base to explore, although DS usually begs to go to the cheesy evening entertainment. We sometimes use Parkdean too and they are decent.

Thanks for all the tips, no it doesn't have to be Haven but they seem to get better reviews than the Parkdean ones. I liked the look of the mablethorpe one actually. DS1 is three so near a beach would be great as he's pretty happy just pottering about.

The sun holiday thing is a bit confusing, it's so cheap but you don't get to choose where your van is or anything.

Ahhh sorry i missed the sun holiday part. I have never done that as yes apart from it being rather confusing I didn't want to risk being I'm the horrible areas of caravan parks.

I've done Primrose Valley with a toddler and we really enjoyed it.

Sassy306 · 13/08/2018 15:47

Primrose valley is great. Its got a good pool and also has a funfair onsite. Its also a good base if you want a day out at flamingonland or would like to go into york for the day :)

We went to Reighton last year when dd was only 5 months old and loved it. So much so that we're going back this year as well.
I was very dubious before we went and was sure we'd be packing up and coming home after the first night! Pleased to say i was wrong.

Haven at Berwick on Tweed is lovely, not as noisy as many, still seems to have lots of activities for kids. That said, we go as a group of adults and a dog, so I'm not sure how much a child would enjoy it!

My parents are owners at Reighton and it’s lovely. It’s the smallest Haven site in the area but still plenty to do. PV is very big and commercial, better facilities though. Thornwick is a new site and really really lovely. Bigger than Reighton and facilities are great.
