New pet owner here.
I've been on comparison websites but I'd really appreciate recommendations. Tesco, John Lewis and More Than look good. I'm swayed by the high amounts they'd pay out but realistically, what are people's experiences of vet bills for illness/accident? Are they really in the thousands?

I don't see how they could wriggle out of it - surely cocker cross is a perfectly accurate description of a cocker x poodle?

My rescue dog came with a vaccination card from his puppy days that refers to him as being pure JRT. Bollocks is he Grin I may have my well founded suspicions about the other half of him, but he's insured as a JRT x.

Given that it's not like cockerpoos come with a pedigree I'm not even sure how you'd prove it.

Can be high, but it's insurance - it's a guessing game, we've never claimed. We have Tesco lifetime cover, but never renew, I take a fresh policy out as it's a lot cheaper

I adopted an older dog. She's 9 and I took out insurance for the first year with Animal Friends, but have not renewed. There were so many exclusions, and what not, I decided not to bother. Also you hear stories of things like if you go to the vet with e.g. a lump and it turns out to be nothing, if you go back in X years time with an actual cancerous lump, then many insurance companies will try to wriggle out of paying saying that it's a pre-existing condition

^this exact thing happened to us with Animal Friends. After the lump on our dog thankfully turned out to be just a fatty lump they informed us that any other lump at all would be excluded from our policy. We asked if that included cancer and they said yes. Absolutely disgusting and unethical. So we dumped them and went to Tesco, who said that was ridiculous and provided the cover without those exclusions so far
