I'm a sad old lady who loves this programme and am in shock at tonight's outcome! I sense an expert doesn't want to look like a mug and admit they're wrong on this one, it's one of the most compelling bodies of evidence they've put together on a picture!

I just saw the last 5 minutes, having never seen it before, can you explain it a bit?

MeltingPregnantLady · 12/08/2018 22:17

People have a painting they suspect is by a famous artist but it's never made it into the official catalogues by said artists. The show gets people to investigate it and establish or disprove it's provinence and establish if the owner has spent mega bucks on a fake or not. It's oddly addictive

I don't usually watch this programme but have just watched the second half of tonight's episode. I was also shocked at the outcome, I was convinced it would be genuine!

PandaG · 12/08/2018 22:20

Really surprised by tonight's outcome. I agree, surprisingly addictive!

I too ended up watching this and never had before, can't believe it wasn't genuine! Definitely the expert not wanting to look like she got it wrong in the first place.

Outbackshack · 12/08/2018 22:26

It is definitely genuine. Stupid expert does not want to admit it is her error.

I love this show- mostly because Dh and I are convinced that Fiona and Phil are secretly shagging and that Bendor finds it all a bit awkward. Does anyone else get these vibes or is it just us? All those car journeys with intense chats about art in various glamorous locations- you can cut the tension with a knife Grin.

Haven’t seen this episode- will watch tomorrow!

Knittedfairies · 12/08/2018 22:29

I was sure Lyn’s painting was real! I like this programme; I particularly enjoyed one a couple of years ago where Fiona Bruce gave an expert what for in fluent, colloquial, French.

PUPupTheJam · 12/08/2018 22:29

I thought that.

Especially the fact that she refused to go on the show to reveal the outcome

I am not familiar with how the art world operates. Is this woman the only woman who can decide if it's real? Can she not take it higher? Complain to someone?

It seemed the evidence was very strong.

So a bit more in-depth version of the Antiques Roadshow? Might have to catch up the whole thing tomorrow.

All seemed very odd.
