Madonna, still sexy at sixty???

Just seen that heading (minus the ???) on the front of a Sunday magazine. Is she sexy? What is the meaning of sexy. I think she looks as though, she is trying too hard to look youthful, and failing miserably.

Yes definitely. Her style is not to my taste but she's fit, vital, interested, interesting. So yeah she is. I imagine if you knew her personally and not the media persona, she could be more sexy.

I just can't get over Madonna being 60 I think she should age how the hell she likes I have no idea what this ageing with dignity thing is all about. I have never thought Madonna had an attractive face but that doesn't make a person not sexy

She looks fantastic and definitely still got it.

I have never thought of her as sexy. She does have a strong type of charisma which some people might find attractive.

She is sexy because she doesn’t give a shit about what other people think of her. The fact that people think she’s a sad caricature who should shut up and get herself a nice waterfall cardi says volumes about how society treats older women. I hope she continues to be herself and do whatever the hell she likes into her 90s.
Seriously if I had a body that could do the things hers can I’d have it out every day.

Also I’d be very surprised if Madonna wanted to do anything as boring as just be ‘good looking for 60’. She’s always been a provocator pushing the boundaries she’s not hoping to settle for a flattering haircut and neutral make up it isn’t who she is.

I don't understand what some mumsnetters want/expect style and beauty is full of opinions about not looking old what to wear what to do with your hair slather on your face ,yet hereis a woman in the public eye and she isn't doing ageing right

I think Madonna does look sexy in a sexual way. I can appreciate another woman doing her own thing. Is it a look I'd want to copy, no but that doesn't take away from Madonnas own individual style, several of which I've loved over the decades. Personally I think mn pps don't like her because they think she's not graceful or classy or sticking to the 'natural' look. And she's all the better for it.

Exactly! Screw that. I love Madonna, always have. She has a point in the interview, all the ageism she's subjected to.
I paraphrase, but it was along the lines of " I've been told I'm too old, what am I supposed to do? Give up and do my knitting/ be dead after 40?"
She's got a great attitude.

She's highly successful, strong minded, says and does what she wants, doesn't conform to stereotypes and still has people talking.
When she talks about ageism and what women have to face as they get older, this thread could be held up as a perfect example of that. We should be celebrating her and be glad she's out there telling people to stick their graceful where the sun don't shine. She's fabulous and always had been.

And more to the point, she's made some incredible music over the years. Always kept it fresh and changed things up. That's what matters, not whether someone, sitting there in their White Stuff cardi and Seasalt sandals, thinks she's sexy or not.

Helen Mirren and Judi Dench have managed the ageing process with far more grace and dignity than Madonna has and, I would argue, far, far more attractively differently.

Madonna has never been my thing but I'm a massive Debbie Harry fan and she's 73 and doesn't give a shit so I can't see any reason why Madonna should.
