out of date stuffing packets - chuck?

LighthouseSouth · 12/08/2018 13:36

just found 2 packets of dry stuffing in the cupboard dated Oct 2017!

(DP bought & forgot, I don't do much cooking).

are they okay to eat? He'd say yes, but I'd imagine they'd taste pretty grim. Thoughts, oh wise MNers?

Thanks.

Will be absolutely fine. I’d eat it!

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 12/08/2018 13:37

I wouldn't.

QueenOlives · 12/08/2018 13:44

Open and smell. They might be less oniony but will ok I'm sure.

Ensure bag is sealed though

I'd eat.

motortroll · 12/08/2018 13:44

I would eat yes!

VimFuego101 · 12/08/2018 13:45

I'd eat them as long as the bag was still intact.

Aprilsinparis · 12/08/2018 13:46

I wouldn't. I cleared my food cupboard out yesterday, and threw away jars of sauces and tins of soup that were BB Jan 18.

InterstellarSleepingElla · 12/08/2018 13:47

I am a proper fussy bigger when it comes to food and even I would eat it! (Assuming the packet is still sealed/intact).

LighthouseSouth · 12/08/2018 14:00

okay, DP is going to add one to lunch.

This will be interesting...!

Thanks.

we used a bombay packet mix that was dated 2016
still good and DH is still alive Grin
'best' before date is not the same as 'use' before date it just might taste a little different but not poisonous

DramaAlpaca · 12/08/2018 14:18

They'll be absolutely fine to eat from a food safety point of view, and highly unlikely to have deteriorated in quality.

LighthouseSouth · 12/08/2018 14:19

I'm more wondering if it's going to be like sawdust stuffing Grin

I found a bottle of sangria in the garage fridge last month that said best before August 2013. I drank it (not all at once). I am still here....

LighthouseSouth · 12/08/2018 20:59

IT tasted like sawdust.

I ate some chilli bean sauce dated 2014 last week.
I've not died yet.
