Gp will be shut. She's lost hers and we are about to go on holiday!

Walk in centre might help you. GL

Shinygoldbauble · 11/08/2018 23:42

If you are going to Spain you can buy ventolin over the counter

Twistella · 11/08/2018 23:52

France. I don't think there's a walk in near us

Asda used to sell them in their chemist over the counter so t know if they still do.

I know if you’ve ever had her prescription dispensed at a boots pharmacy before, they can issue and emergency prescription based on the information they have on file.
They’ve definitely done this for my mum before with inhalers. Don’t know if it’s different for children.
This website suggests other pharmacies do it too.

You can get them over the counter from Tesco/Asda (have done it myself in an emergency). They take your name and GP details so they can let them know you've had another inhaler but it's straightforward otherwise.

Any pharmacy if you take a copy of the last prescription..costs about £6.

flumpybear · 12/08/2018 04:18

I had one done on a private prescription before when I forgot mine on holiday - was in Scotland

flumpybear · 12/08/2018 04:19

.... just asked pharmacist and they did it then and there

OhMyMirror · 12/08/2018 05:03

You can buy them over the counter in France, they're around €13. I visit several times a year and had to do it a few times.

As a last resort op you can use pushdoctor which is an online service. I think the first appointment is free or reduced. I got inhalers at a weekend in very similar circumstances.

Toxthing · 12/08/2018 08:39

Boots will issue one. Got one for my DD when it ran out unexpectedly, and had never had the prescription fulfilled there previously

Twistella · 12/08/2018 09:32

Thanks all! I rang 111 and a gp rang back and has faxed a copy to my local boots which opens at 10. She's been wheezy and I was considering a and e Sad hopefully inhaler will stop it otherwise might still be hospital (she was hospitalised a long time ago).

Just an update - the prescription never arrived, 111 said someone else would call me again within an hour, that was at 10.30 this morning and I've had no call back Hmm

Luckily I begged the pharmacist and she let me buy one otherwise it would have been a trip to a and e as dd was getting wheezier by the minute.

Packing to leave this afternoon and I found an old inhaler in a sports bag. Hopefully that will be enough for the holiday!
