Metal mouth between ovulation and period

This isn't an 'am I pregnant' post, despite the fact we are TTC.
This is a genuine 'what is this?' post.
I used to think having that metal taste between ovulation and period was a pregnancy symptom and have wasted a lot of my time getting excited for it to end in tears. I got it when pregnant with the two babies we lost which is why I kept getting excited.

Therefore this must be something else. Hormonal? It tastes like I've been sucking on coins and it's horrid. It's been happening the past 3 or 4 cycles and it's driving me mad.
I have really good oral health and I eat a nutritionally balanced diet so it's not gum disease or a bad diet. It only happens in the weeks before my period.

I've googled and it only seems to be linked to early pregnancy or poor dental hygiene/diet.

Does anyone else get this? Is it linked maybe to PCOS (Which I have)?

It is sometimes linked with a very watery mouth too.

Yes I get this. Also have PCOS.

Oh that's interesting...
I only noticed it with my two losses, assuming it was just a preg symptom.
Then when we started TTC again it happened every cycle. Almost like my body was bullying me into thinking I was preg when I wasn't 😢

I recently had this and my periods are totally out of sync and thought l was pregnant, sore boobs the works....

I had negative tests and had a load of blood. My iron came back low (as always).
