No. But you do need ID to get through airport etc. Driving licence is fine

If you’re in Northern Ireland you don’t but you will if you’re in Ireland.

Peoplemaynoticeus · 11/08/2018 10:51

I went from fishguard last week and all I had with me was a bill. One man had no id at all and he was let on fine.

EduCated · 11/08/2018 10:53

The U.K. and Ireland are in a ‘Common Travel Area’, so you don’t need a passport, but you do need ID which shows your nationality, and photographic ID for airlines normally, so you might as well passport Wink

dangermouseisace · 11/08/2018 10:57

I've not had a passport for years and I've travelled to the ROI without one.

I had my driving license but didn't get asked for it. I think my dad just had his bus pass as photo id.

bumbling · 11/08/2018 11:11

If you are talking about flying it would be dependent on the airline. Years ago I flew to the UK without id but the airlines now require passports.

The ferry is probably different

Portobellae · 11/08/2018 11:21

I think Ryanair (spits) ask for a passport.

Lenny1987 · 11/08/2018 11:24

Ryanair you must have a passport, aer lingus you can travel on your bus pass!
