DP and I were out in the pub earlier this afternoon for a drink, sitting outside. At the next table was a man and his dog and the next table a woman with a youngish school age child who had a snack box of some sort. She went to buy a drink or something.

The dog got over excited and grabbed at the snack box and ate some of whatever was in it, the owner stopped him and put the box back on the table. When the woman returned the man said nothing to her and when she offered her child some of the snack he still didn't say anything. AIBU to find this to be disgusting?

Not BU at all. He should have held onto the snack pot and when the mother returned, given it back with an explanation and an apology. He could have got the child a bag of scampi fries from behind the bar to compensate.

That's kinda what I thought, do dog owners usually let children eat what their dog has slobbered over? I wouldn't with our cat if he'd managed to get to a roast chicken DP might though

That's not nice. Did you not tell the woman with the child ? I think I would have said something.

Eww.
Did you say something to them ?

Yes, I went over and mentioned it to her. Luckily her child had decided they didn't want any. She didn't talk to the man though, just glared at him.
