THE ‘LIFE’ OF YOUR CHILD\CHILDREN’S USED CLOTHES

Dear ALL,
I am a mother of two and environmental scientist. At the Imperial College of London we are doing research on “The management of children’s used clothes”.

We would like to learn how parents deal with used or unwanted clothes. And then we would like to develop an ecofriendly and suitable option for parents to dispose of their children’s clothes.

Could I please ask you to fill in a short no-name survey (7 min max).

We believe this is very important research and it focuses on the socia-environmental impact of children’s used clothes. The textile industry is one of the most polluted industries. It takes 3000 litres of water to produce one baby suit; the same amount of water that’s used by one adult in a month. The fast fashion lifestyle is currently a modern trend, which results in 300,000 tonnes of clothes being thrown away each year in England. This clothing waste has a hugely adverse effect on soil, water and air.

We really appreciate your help and understanding with this environmental problem.

After all, as parents, we are responsible for the clean, safe future of the planet for our children.

Thank you very much,
Irina
