Help !! London to Yorkshire

Hey

I have sold my hse in Essex ( borders of east London ) & I have roughly 3 wks to move ! The problem is , I still ain't decided where to go 😬😬😬
I have been looking for a long time & always thought I wanted the coast but right at the last hr I have decided it might not be a wise move , pardon the pun !
I'm now seriously considering Yorkshire but I'm so lost as to what part . I have one son age 8 and his school is definitely a priority, he has just been given a diagnosis of ADHD . I have just got divorced so it will be just me & my boy . I would like to live in a village or small town but I want to be close to Leeds or York , I guess west or North Yorkshire are my current choices but I'd love to hear ALL the places people would recommend because I am literally doing this blind !!! I must choose a school by next wk & apply . I don't need to worry about work for a while , I just need to concentrate on finding a lovely , friendly, safe area to buy a house ( and also rent at first ) and make a new start for me and my beautiful boy : )
ALL suggestions welcome ASAP ... I've got 3 wks remember ; )

I live in Scarborough on the coast and love it. I work in malton which is Yorkshire's food capital and 23 mins from york on train and love that even more. Great schools, lovely food, beautiful location and friendly people. Not enough people rave about Malton!

Thanks Hawks : )
I believe Malton was listed in an article lately as a lovely place to live actually . I will check it out ... time is running out so rapidly 😬

If your DS will need a more practical curriculum to help with the ADHD you could look to move into catchment for Brymore in West Somerset (it's Secondary, but I suppose that is what you need to focus on).

Not far from the coast, amazing countryside, cheap houses!

I live in Horbury West Yorkshire, ds1 lives in Holmfirth and ds2 in Leeds.

Leeds is fab for shopping, eating out and social life. Holmfirth is rural and beautiful but near Huddersfield for everything an d where i live is quiet and inbetween Wakefield and Huddersfield.
Move here! I'm a Southerner who moved North. Would never go back

OP. We moved from there to here 20 odd years ago and ended up in Harrogate. We expected to be back down in London after 2 years but ...

I can recommend Harrogate for excellent state schools, access to Leeds, York and amazing countryside. It's the size of town that is big enough to have everything you might want to do (cinemas, theatre, sports, shops) but small enough that it's easy to travel round and meet people. Some say it's snobby but I've never found that - I think they just mean the house prices are a bit high.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I appreciate your reply's and time . I decided on east York's , I feel like I get the best of both there with the coast & countryside! I've applied for a school for my boy in Cottingham 🤞🏻🤞🏻 and will look around there & Beverley to but I think ... this is such a huge move for us but I have a really good feeling in my belly I'm never gonna regret it 😊
