It's been open for about a week, maybe 8 days. It's in its Use By date but has been open in the fridge. Never noticed before but it says to use within 2 days of opening. Looked and smelled ok but second guessing them smell of it cooking 🤔

Personally I wouldn’t eat it, my rule for open meats, raw or otherwise is 2 days. I’m petrified of getting sick though so i’m Probably over cautious.

To be honest, i’d Throw all leftovers out after day 3.

I do. I open bacon after shopping on a friday eve most weeks n finish it about the time i buy a new one next friday. As long as it looks and smells ok and your fridge is in good working order.... theres very few foods i follow the "once opened use within..." as long as they're stored properly

If it's smoked bacon you can eat it. Anything smoked lasts a long time as smoking is a preservation method.

gekiort · 04/07/2018 11:11

Nah, smoked doesn't mean smoked these days. It's usually flavoured shit. I wouldn't touch it.

Pebblespony · 04/07/2018 11:13

I'd have no problem. All the preservatives in bacon give it a long life. If it's on fate and smells/looks ok, it's fine.

If it’s in date I would use it. I think once the air hits some things they can deteriorate rapidly but bacon doesn’t seem too!
