Confirmation present - what's expected?.

I'm basically a heathen (though Catholic long ago by upbringing). but am going to my teenage god-daughter's Catholic comfirmation mass tomorrow. Does anyone know anything about etiquette on presents at a catholic confirmation?.Her family are quite wealthy and well-connected (more than me!) so their expectations are likely to be at the higher end of the range. Thoughts welcome!

I believe the traditional confirmation gift for a teenage girl would be something like a prayer-book or a (personalised?) rosary, although I realise at this point you're a little short of time for getting them.

Maybe you could take along a card, chocs and/or flowers, and ask your god-daughter if there's something specific/personalised she'd like that you could order in and send on to her...?

In Ireland we give cash at a confirmation, and are more generous for a godchild.

Religious themed gifts are more usual at communions.

At least that's what our family & friends tend to do.

I wouldn't worry about expectations, whatever you want to give will be welcomed & appreciated.

My daughter got some lovely cards for her confirmation. A couple of people included cash (nothing more than a tenner, this was six years ago). Her sponsor had flowers delivered in the morning and gave her a religious charm for her Pandora. DH and I gave her a leather bound missal.

I’m of the thought that is a religious occasion and she didn’t expect gifts.

DS made his First Holy Communion a few weeks beforehand and again, some lovely cards but no presents as such.

How can she be your god daughter if ore not religious? misses the point

For my confirmation I was gifted things like cross necklace, cross earrings, a beautiful rosary, prayer books.
