What am I doing wrong?

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I am looking for jobs within a school, in the administrative side as I have not got the qualifications for teaching.
I have been sending out lots of applications across different boroughs to try and get something for a September start.

I have a strong administrative background but have never worked in a school but have volunteered loads since having DC, sat on the committee of the playgroup, PTA, listening to the children read etc. I try and put this all into the supporting statement.

I have noticed on a lot of websites advertising the vacancies, the schools always mention that applicants are welcome to view the school, should I be doing this? The only reason I don't is due to the fact I am applying for so many across neighbouring boroughs, I don't know how I would fit it in with my youngest doing limited nursery hours.

I am not a person who thinks, everyone would want me, but after all these applications, I was hoping for at least one interview, one foot in the door, but nothing. I appreciate lots and lots of people are applying for school hour jobs, I just feel like time is running out and it looks like I won't get anything for a September start now.

I work in admin in a school and deal with recruitment and yes visiting a school always looks good. It's the norm for this. I almost didn't when I was applying for my job but so glad I did now I'm in the school and can see how it works.

Thank you for the response.

I am going to start making appointments with some of the applications I have sent out. It does make sense to get out there and show my face.
Fingers crossed I don't say something really stupid when I get there.
