Hi everyone, so as the title suggests we are considering moving out from London.
We have 4 dc, 1 in year 7 secondary, other in year 4, one going to reception in September and one baby.
The reason for moving is simply to be able to get a bigger house and better lifestyles financially. We live in London bordering Surrey, in a Victorian house which have nice big rooms and a huge garden. But we need extra rooms. We considered Milton Keynes and Birmingham as we do like living in a big city. We really liked MK especially the new houses, but the rooms were really small and so were the gardens and the prices were not as great as we thought. Also my husband works in retail, so he would lose the London salary allowance and also he is a Uber driver pet time and there doesn't seem much of an Uber need in MK. And in Birmingham we found a lot of areas didn't have great schools. We are very lucky that both secondary and primary schools my dc go to are an outstanding.
We have everything at our doorstep but parking is a nightmare have to walk wait far after finding a parking which is hard to find anyway. That's one of main reason for wanting to move as with 4dc I'm
In and out all day and really struggle with this. This is one of our reasons for moving as we could extend our house.
Ideally if we didn't have a budget we would love to move into Surrey but that's not possible and we can't even find a house in our price in our current area.
Pros of moving
-better off financially
- more family time
- parking facilities
Cons
-having to move school and find excellent schools
- houses may not be as cheap in the areas we like
Has anyone moved to Birmingham and lied it or regretted it?
I'm worried if we move we might regret it.
Help please
Sorry for the long post
