WWYD - MIL has told me not to speak to family member!

MIL has fallen out with her cousin, DH calls her "auntie", and has told me not to send her a birthday card or contact her!

Auntie C is lovely, she is my favourite member of DH's family. I have no intention of obeying MIL but what should I do...

Just ignore her and go about my business (card already sent anyway.)
Say something to MIL and if so, what?
Get DH to say something, and if so, what?

For info: MIL has told me rather than DH because she knows it is me who remembers all the birthdays and keeps in contact etc. Also I think she knows DH would just ignore her whereas I think she thinks I will take notice!

DH says ignore her.

Just continue without saying anything and if she notices say ‘what? I didn’t think you were serious. In any case I’ve no reason not to contact her so keep your fight between yourselves please’. And don’t engage any further on the issue.

Just carry on regardless. It’s not up to her what you do.
