I have been given the opportunity to go for another job for 12-18 months. To go over to another local public sector company and work on a new project. I wouldn't say I have been headhunted as such, but my past behaviour has made me a good candidate. The job offer is contained within our team of 35. It's a great opportunity to work on a national project.
There's just 2 things stopping me. How would I know I would be good at the job? What if I totally mess it up? Is this an irrational fear? As much as I know I've done a good job in the past on other projects, part of me thinks I've only got through by 'winging it'.
5 of my other colleagues (who I would also call friends) also want to apply for it. Would this not be awkward, to be up against friends for a job? Only one of us 6 who apply can obviously get it and I don't want any bad feeling between anyone after.
I'm unsure as what to do, and I guess just want advice as to what other people would do in this situation.
Financially speaking it's only approx £2000 pay rise for any one of us.
