Tissue donation during laparoscopy?

For context: I'm due to have laparoscopic surgery next week and have been approached by the hospital's research dept to ask if I would consider donating some uterine tissues/ samples for their current research project into the genetics behind endometriosis and developing a more effective method of diagnosing Endo and Fibroids.

Does anyone have any experience of donating tissue during surgery? Does it add a significant amount of time to the surgery as a whole or to post-op healing time? Or, if you were approached to donate, WWYD?

Just trying to weigh everything up, I feel morally obliged due to the nature of the study and 'helping others' so to speak, but feel a little apprehensive about agreeing as I had a huge pack of information thrown at me and there's not much insight into the procedure itself or the possible effects, which hasn't really helped with my overall anxiety regarding my surgery or being in hospital (although I can appreciate if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill with this!)

Any help/ advice hugely appreciated!
