Someone is trying to scam me

Someone replied to an ad I'd posted looking for a flat In London. All looked perfect, good price etc. I should have known it was too good to be true!

After exchanging a few emails I decided to google the name and up pops loads of scam alerts with the exact same pictures of the flat I was sent.

Now, this person doesn't know that I know yet. Apparently she has evaded being caught somehow. I spoke to another woman who was scammed by her - she sent a security deposit before viewing the flat. And surprise surprise never heard back from her.

Do I contact the police now? Or the fraud team? Help!

yes I would contact the police!

I hope they take this seriously.

The police have said just to ignore her and if she's done this before she will be being looked in to. Surely that's not right?

I've received a request for money and a fake tenancy contract.

Surely this would help to build a case against her??

This happened to my son in Manchester. There was a posting of a beautiful flat - apparently it was an AirBnB one that someone had booked for a week - the scam was to get loads of people to come in, fill out contracts, pay their money etc and then the scammers would be gone.

It would be great if you could put the name online. Maybe in twitter etc. To make sure people can see it and not get scammed.
